Malaga, Spain - This tour visits the Nerja Caves which were only discovered about 50 years ago, though they date back almost 30,000 years. The caves are considered the most beautiful in Europe.

After meeting your private guide in Malaga you drive along the Costa del Sol through the Axarquia Region. During your drive you will pass the fishing village of Rincon de la Victoria, a popular tourist spot for Malagans. You also pass Velez Malaga with its castle fortress perched on a hill above the sea and then Torrox, which was well know for its silk making industry.

At the eastern edge of the Costa del Sol where the mountains reach the sea you arrive at the town of Nerja. It was here in 1959 where the famous dolomite caves were discovered. The Caves of Nerja are considered the most beautiful caves in all of Europe.

Your tour allows you to admire several caves including the grand Center Column in the Cataclysm Hall. This column alone is about 100 feet high. You will find the many stalagmites and stalactites just breathtaking. Another highlight are the Paleolithic wall paintings which provide evidence that people inhabited these caves 20,000 to 30,000 years ago.

After the cave tour you have some free time for visiting the museum shop before you return to Malaga.
