Your driver guide will meet you at your cruise ship in Livorno.  Your exploration begins with a 2 hour drive through the lovely Tuscan countryside to  enchanting Siena. Upon arrival in Siena, you will visit the old city center. You will be able to walk along the small medieval streets to admire the splendid palaces and ending up at the Cathedral and its Baptistery, where you can visit the splendid interior including the Libreria Piccolomini and the Museo dell'Opera Metropolitana.

After you break for lunch you will want to visit the Piazza del Campo, one of the most  beautiful squares in the world.  This piazza is the site of the world famous Palio, held every year in Siena.  You will have approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to explore on foot. 

Next your driver guide will take you to the tiny Tuscan town of Monteriggioni (photo).  If you have not visited some of Tuscany's small towns, this is an excellent choice for a short visit.  The town dates to 1203 and it is completely surrounded by formidable, well preserved walls and 14 heavily fortified towers.  The town sits on a high plateau which only allowed the village to be as large as this small mountain top.  There is not a major sight to see in the town but you will be very impressed by its unique situation and quaintness.  While you are there, enjoy a glass of the local Castello di Monteriggioni wine.  Monteriggioni served as Siena’s northernmost defense against impending Florentine invasions.
