Lisbon, Portugal- The highlight of this full day tour is a stop at the pilgrimage site of Fátima. In route you stop at a beautiful medieval village and a sea side town for lunch.

After meeting your guide at the pier you immediately depart for Óbidos, known as the Wedding Present Town" because it was a gift King Dinis gave to Queen Isabel on their wedding day in 1282. This medieval village is surrounded by the walls of a castle, and is known for its picturesque cobblestone streets lined with colorful houses with beautiful flowerpots, Gothic architecture, whitewashed churches, flowerpots and wrought iron balconies. While you are here you have the option to sample Ginginha, which is a local liquor made from a sour cherry.

Next you continue to Alcobaça for a short stop to see the Cistercian monastery, then its on to Nazaré. This fishing village has a large white sandy beach, where you will enjoy lunch in a typical restaurant overlooking the ocean. After lunch, the you continue on to Fátima.

Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared six times to three children near the town. During a time when Europe was being ravaged by WWI, Our Lady of Fátima brought a message from God that promised peace on Earth if her requests for prayer, reparation and consecration were heard and obeyed.

Upon arrival in Fátima you will visit the imposing modern basilica, and see its square, which is larger than St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. You will also have some free time to explore this impressive contemporary cathedral on your own. Later today you return to Lisbon.
