Le Havre Shore Excursion - This full day shore trip visits the famous home of Claude Monet, which is located in Giverny. You will step back in time and enjoy his beautiful gardens. After lunch you enjoy a walking tour in Rouen's historical city center.

After meeting your guide you depart immediately for Giverny. In 1883 Impressionist artist Claude Monet rented a small pink house with green shutters in the town of Giverny, outside Paris. He selected the town after seeing its quaint beauty from a train window. He loved to garden, and immediately began to design the landscape to suit his artistic ideal.

As he became more well known and his paintings began to sell, he was able to purchase the house and some additional land nearby. There he added a water garden and a Japanese bridge to frame his favorite water lilies. This is the garden you see today, the subject of his most famous works known as the water lily series. Many of his artist friends think his garden was his greatest masterpiece.

The original home has been restored, and much like the painter's pallet, each room represents a different color decorated with Monet's collection of Japanese art. Nearby the atelier (design house) which was added to the property in 1916 features large copies of his works. Monet lived in the house until his death in 1926.

Your time includes a visit to both the house and gardens. After your visit you have some free time to have lunch in a countryside restaurant where you can experience the cuisine from Claude Monet's recipes.

Following lunch you drive to Rouen where you will enjoy a walking tour of the historical city center. You will see the The Old Market Place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431, today it is still lined with timber framed houses. You see the Modern Joan of Arc Church which was completed in 1979. On Gros Horloge Street you see a sculpted archway which holds a 16th century Renaissance lodge decorated with clock faces that still accurately tell the time of day, phases of the moon and day of the week. You also see the city's Gothic Cathedral and the seat of Normandy‰Ûªs Parliament

Later this afternoon you return to the pier in Le Havre.
