Lübeck City HallHamburg Germany -This exciting tour visits Lübeck's Old Town with its famous Holsten Gate, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to a walking tour of the old town, you also visit Niederegger’s world  famous Marzipan Café ...yummy.

After meeting you guide at the pier, you immediately depart for Lübeck, the old island town, which is surrounded by the river Trave and a channel. The Free Imperial and Hanseatic City of Lübeck is steeped in history and tradition, and is simply beautiful. proud old patrician houses and redbrick churches are now included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.

Upon arrival in Lübeck, you enjoy the medieval ambiance during your historical walk of the Aldstadt (old town) with its well-known Holsten Gate – the landmark of the city and one of the few relics of the city fortress. Your tour includes a visit to the St. Marien Church, which represents an example for many redbrick churches along the Baltic Sea. You will also see the Gothic Rathaus (city hall) known to be one of the oldest in Germany. You also see the Buddenbrooks House, the home of the famous writers Heinrich and Thomas Mann, both born in Lübeck. Another popular attraction that you will see is the Fuechtingshof, one of the quaintest and impressive of the 82 alleyways in the old town.

At the end of the walking tour you have the opportunity to taste the world famous “Lübecker Marzipan” at Cafe Niederegger. These Marzipan treats are well known throughout Europe but are a specialty from Lübeck.
