Glasgow / Greenock, Scotland -This half day tour visits one of Scotland’s most magnificent castles, plus a stop at the Wallace Monument is included.
After meeting your private guide at the pier you immediately depart for Stirling, and its famous castle. Stirling Castle is built on a rocky outcrop offering commanding views for many miles around. It was built as an almost impregnable fortification, and visitors can explore many aspects of its long military history, particularly during the Wars of Independence in the 1300s. But it was also an important and luxurious royal palace. Visitors today can gain an insight into the life of Scotland’s royal court, especially that of James V.
After your memorable tour of Stirling Castle, you continue north to the Wallace Monument. It was built for Sir William Wallace (a National Scottish hero) who was hung, drawn and quartered by the English in 1305. There is a breathtaking view from the 220 foot high Victorian monument.
Following this stop you return to the pier in Greenock.
