Cagliari, Italy - This 6.5 hour tour is an expansion of the Highlights of Cagliari tour. Added are free time for lunch and then a visit to the Roman Archeological sites in Cagliari.

Your driver and licensed guide will meet you at the pier. You immediately drive to Viale Buon Cammino for a photo stop overlooking the city of Cagliari. You will enjoy the amazing views including the Roman archeological area with the sea as a backdrop.

Next you drive to the medieval old town, called Castello, where you enjoy a walking tour from the ancient Porta Cristina gate to the Bastione San Remy, located near Constitution Square. Walking through the 14th century quarter you will see many monuments and towers and then enjoy the famous view at the bastion fortification.

Next you drive to the and famous Poetto beach which is located between the rock formation known as the Saddle of the Devil and salt pools known as the Gulf of Angels. It is these pools which attract many birds including the popular pink flamingos.

Next you walk through La Marina District. This quarter is a multi-cultural place where new traditions and local ones melt into new cultures and traditions arriving from all over the world. You will see many shops, cultural crafts and typical restaurants. You will have free time here for lunch on your own.

Following lunch your private guide takes you to the Roman archeological sites of Cagliari. You visit the Roman amphitheater which is now largely destroyed because the blocks of limestone were used to construct the walls and defensive towers of the city. The amphitheater hosted fights between animals, gladiators and combatants who were recruited from outside Sardinia. You also visit the Villa del Tigellio, a luxurious private Roman residence composed of three buildings, inside which you can see wall paintings / murals.

At the end of your tour, your driver will take you back to the pier.
